Avionics/Panel

The options here are extensive. The only thing to be aware of with making decisions with regard to instruments and avionics for Cessna 190/195’s is the issue of FAA Approval. Many of the new technology units are STC’d for installation in these aircraft but not as a “stand alone”, or primary unit. We have been successful getting approvals for most of today’s technology but it does subject us to the line 3 “field approval” process. This process now takes a minimum of 5 hours to assemble the initial submittal package. Visit our 190/195 options page for some of the more popular options.

  • CUSTOM CUT 3 PIECE PANELS

Custom made panels are an excellent improvement for these airplanes. We use a CAD program to design the panel based on the instruments and avionics to be installed then import the data to a waterjet cutter for precise cutting. The instrument arrangement and center stack avionics are great, however the real bonus is the access available with 3 seperate panels. There is no access from below due to the oil tank.

Note the lack of panel lighting. This airplane has the original style overhead map lights for the panel.

  • BACKLIT INSTRUMENTS AND SCREEN DISPLAYS

This is the best way to go if the airplane is going to be used for night flying. Modern instruments that are all controlled by one dimmer along with navigation and engine instrument screen displays make up a fantastic pilot information system. With an autopilot installed, this aircraft is equipped for most all night IFR conditions.

  • EYEBROW AND POST LIGHTING SYSTEMS

These two types of lights provide very similar lighting conditions but with very different appearances. The eyebrow lights look more vintage while the post lighting appears cleaner and more modern. Backlighting is far superior to these systems and is available as a custom kit for the original type instruments.

  • PANEL OVERLAYS / DIGITAL ENGINE INSTRUMENTS

There are a number of different panel overlays, woods, grains, and finishes to choose from. This panel is overlayed with a full gloss varnished Elm Burl.

The engine instrumentation on the right panel section is Electronics International Digital Display System. These are programmable for Green, Yellow and Red bands that are displayed with lights. These type instruments are smaller and allow center stack avionics.

  • MULTI-FUNCTION DISPLAYS / ENGINE MONITOR SYSTEMS .

These two screen type display systems are extremely condensed as compared with traditional avionics and instrumentation. They take a little getting used to but allow a very clean panel with room for standby basic instruments.

  • CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL

The original circuit breakers have a very vintage look but are not as reliable as the modern ones. The main issue with the original breakers is that they can not be manually pulled to remove power from a component in an emergency. we usually make a whole new panel and bus all of the breakers together with a copper bus.
